2019 Spring Rec Registration

Welcome

Welcome

Welcome to the 2019 Spring Rec Ball Registration with Campbell Girls Fastpitch Softball!

Campbell Girls Fastpitch Softball Spring Recreation League is now open for registration.  CGFS wants every player and family to have a excellent experience with softball and our league. Please read the following information before filling out the registration form.

Campbell Girls Fastpitch Softball (located in San Jose, CA) has the goal of teaching girls Pre-K through High School life lessons in competition and teamwork, while learning the fundamentals of softball and developing valuable relationships that last a lifetime.
Our league is one of a few outdoor sports organizations in the local area that focuses on empowering girls through teamwork, competition, sportsmanship and confidence. The league is an entirely volunteer managed, 501 (C) non-profit. The parent volunteers provide their time to improve, manage and maintain our league at Forest Hill Elementary School.
Below you will find information about 2019 Spring Rec season, including fees, expectations and equipment. If you have any questions please email, Kelli Dixon, League Secretary at
cgfssecretary@gmail.com

Team Formation:
Softball is a team sport and regular attendance is very important. Please make sure your daughter regularly attends practice and games. Players registered in 8U, 10U, and 12U will have player evaluations in January to evaluate all players in order for teams to be balanced.  6U will just be placed on teams. Coaches will then hold a draft to pick players.  Coaches will notify players by February 1 about practice start times.  Practices will begin on or after February 1.

Friend Requests:
We understand the importance for young players to have the opportunity to play with friends.  Players in 6U can make requests to play with a friend. Please email 6U player agent Chris Synder:  cgfsminiagent@gmail.com with the friend request.  Only one friend request per player, please.

In 8U, we will not be doing friend requests this year.  Only exception is any new player to softball or the league can put in a friend request.  Please email player agent, Michael Bennette: cgfs8uagent@gmail.com with the friend request.  Only one friend request per player.
Siblings playing in the same age division will automatically be placed on the same team unless the parent/guardian requests that they be placed on separate teams.

Parent Participation
CGFS is 100% volunteer based organization.  From the board to the coaches, all are volunteers.  We can not exist without your help.  Parents are required to volunteer their time in some capacity including, coaching, assistant coaching, field preps, cleanup and maintenance.  All families are required to do a field clean up day. two snack shack shifts and game day field preps.  You must pay a $100 deposit at registration time for the snack shack. If you can not do your shifts, you can “buyout” using the $100 deposit.  All families that do the required shifts will have their deposit refunded at the end of the season.
It’s our experience that your daughter will appreciate and benefit enormously from your involvement, and we
highly encourage you to attend your daughter’s practices, games and related softball team activities.  In addition, most Coaches and Managers appreciate any extra help they can get so please volunteer to help at practices, games or in team support positions. Don’t worry if you “know nothing about softball”- every parent has something to offer.

Equipment Needs:
CGFS provides a shirt (jersey) and socks for every player.  In addition we also provide for games: fields, bases, balls and catchers gear. Players are required to provide their own softball pants, glove and cleats. In addition, most player have their own batting helmet and bat.  If you cannot provide these for your player, please let you coach know and the league can help.
Cleats must be softball or soccer cleats with plastic or rubber bottoms.  No metal cleats allowed.

If you choose to get additional equipment please use the following guidelines:

Batting Helmets: we do encourage that each player have their own helmet in order the help prevent lice.  Helmets must have a face mask.  Chin straps are optional. Helmets should also fit properly and not be loose.

Bats: While CGFS has a few bats to share, many girls benefit by having their own bat. Bats must be fastpitch softball bats with ASA/USA Approved with a 2004 or newer date sticker on the bat. If you are unsure about what type and/or size to get your daughter, please ask your coach for some recommendations.

Fielders Mask-Fielders masks are NOT required for players but are encouraged.
